From the first day of school, you want students to be engaged in meaningful activities. This packet combines traditional icebreaker-style activities, that build classroom community by helping new students get to know each other, with writing, math, and art activities. It includes everything you need to simply print and go, including templates, worksheets, and writing prompts.

How to Use These First Week of School Activities

This back to school activity packet is perfect for the few five days of the new school year. Featuring creative writing, math, and artistic concepts, these printable worksheets are a fun way to create both independent and group work opportunities. The printables can be stapled together as packets, or passed out each day of the first week. The completed pages are also ideal for displaying at open house!

Students sketch a drawing and share their questions and hopes about their new teacher.

Students draw and brainstorm their goals for the new school year.

Students write their names in a variety of different styles while identifying syllables and vowels.

“MY ALPHABET” LETTER WRITING Activity

Students write out the letters in the alphabet in both uppercase and lowercase letters.
