This lesson plan is designed for 3rd grade but can be used in grades K-5. Students will read the definition of poetry, and then identify rhythm, steady beat, tempo, and dynamics as they relate to music. By patting a beat, clapping to the rhythm of words, and making each line into a dynamic level, they will understand how poetry can be musical.
