When dealing with an argumentative student, it's important to maintain control of the situation. Keep your cool and respond to them in a respectful way.

Transcript:

When dealing with an argumentative child something really important to remember is that you need to maintain the appearance of control at all times. So you are the adult and they are the child. You are the the trusted and safe figure and they are someone you’re supposed to be taking care of. So one example of me failing to do this in the past is I let my emotions get the best of me. I had a complete power struggle with a child and it resulted in him crying and me ready to rip my hair out and it really fractured our relationship because I was unable to keep my emotions under control. So it’s important to remember when dealing with an argumentative kid they really are just a kid and you need to maintain your composure at all times.
