Objectives

  • Students will create a variety of shapes with popsicle sticks.
Materials
  • Popsicle sticks
  • A bowl of hot water

  • Glue
  • Cardboard (optional)
Procedure
  1. Soak the popsicle sticks in water for about a half hour.
  2. Take the sticks out of the water and gently bend them into shapes.
  3. Wrap a rubber band around the molded stick so the shape will hold.
  4. Let the wood dry for about an hour.
  5. Remove the rubber bands.
  6. Students can decorate the sticks or glue a few together to make different designs. Using a piece of heavy cardboard paper, students can glue the sticks in a design to create a mural.
