Students can choose from activities like:
Colossal Continents
Choose 2 of the seven continents on Earth. Use Info Please, textbooks, or nonfiction books to help you compare and contrast them. Design a Venn Diagram on a piece of poster paper that shows what you learned.
Directions, Please!
Pretend you are a new student in our classroom. Design a map and write directions that help the student get to the cafeteria from our classroom. Be sure to have a compass rose in your picture and use cardinal directions (north, east, south, west).
Map Symbol Memory Game
Create a set of 20 cards displaying 10 map symbols. Half your cards should have the symbol showing only, and the other half should have the names of the map symbol written out. Mix up all the cards and place them facing down on the table, revealing two at a time. Once you get a match the cards can be removed. Time yourself, or compete with someone else, to see how quickly you can match them all!
