Directions: The analogies below are word problems that consist of two word pairs. Look at the first pair and decide how they relate to each other. Then select one of the words below so the second pair of words has the same relationship.

The best answer is TRUTHFUL. The relationship between the first pair of words, DISEASE and SICKNESS, is that of synonyms – words that have similar meanings. Therefore, the second pair of words must also be synonyms. TRUTHFUL is a synonym for HONEST.

2. DUNCE : GENIUS :: WASTE : CONSERVE



The best answer is WASTE. DUNCE and GENIUS are antonyms – words that have opposite meanings. Therefore, the second pair of words must also be antonyms. WASTE is an antonym for CONSERVE.

3. EXHIBIT : DISPLAY :: HARE : RABBIT
