Tlingit Indians of the Pacific Northwest Vocabulary

canoe = a light, slender boat with pointed ends, propelled by paddles

climate = meteorological conditions that prevail in a certain region

evergreen = having foliage that persists and remains green throughout the year

lush = abundant; very productive

sacred = made or declared holy

totem pole = a post carved and painted with a series of totemic symbols; erected in front of a dwelling

vegetation = the plants of an area or region
