This poetry activity for middle school students is perfect for helping them learn about Martin Luther King Jr.. This activity is great as an extension for a unit on MLK, civil rights, or Black History Month and can be assigned as individual or group work.

Students will use words and phrases from the dozens of included quotes by Martin Luther King Jr. to create their own 20-line poem based on Dr. King's beliefs. This activity is suitable for grades 6 to 8.
