Professional Development Credit

NSTA occasionally offers college or continuing education credit for convention attendance. Check your Advance Program or the convention's pages on this Web site.

NSTA regularly offers documentation of participation in a NSTA convention in the form of a Professional Development Certificate. Many states and school districts approve NSTA convention participation as part of their professional development requirements. See Certification for details.

Accommodations

NSTA reserves blocks of rooms at selected hotels and makes them available to convention attendees at a discount through the city's housing bureau. Attendees can receive these discounted rates by using the NSTA Housing Form provided online and in the Advance Program. These hotels are generally close to the city's convention center, where most NSTA activities are held. Shuttle buses are generally provided at no additional cost between outlying hotels and convention facilities and for special functions off site.

Travel

Substantial discounts are available to convention attendees by using NSTA-designated airlines. Simply call the airline directly and use the NSTA code provided in the Advance Program and online convention pages. Each convention has its own set of codes; see the travel pages of the convention you are planning to attend.

What Do You Do First?

  1. Register for the convention – the earlier the better! The easiest way is to register online. NSTA's main convention menu will guide you to the registration form. You can also register using the registration form available by download from our forms page. To have a registration form faxed to you, call our Fax on Demand service at 1-888-400-6782 (NSTA).
  2. Purchase the tickets you want on the registration form (tours, short courses, social events).
  3. Make your hotel reservations through the housing bureau.
  4. Make your travel arrangements.
  5. Pack your bags!

Getting Help

The main conventions menu page will lead you to the information you need on the different conventions. If you need more help, email conventions@nsta.org or call Jo Neville at 703-312-9221.
