U.S. President: Facts

Grade Levels: 3 - 5

Objectives
  • Students will gather information from a chart.
  • Students will become familiar with the names of the presidents of the United States.
Materials
Procedures
  1. Distribute copies of the handouts to the class.
  2. Review List of Presidents with students.
  3. Ask students to complete Know the Presidents
  4. This activity may be completed as homework or in class, individually or in pairs.
  5. As an enrichment activity, assign the following questions to the class or offer as an extra credit option to individuals:
    1. Which president was impeached? (Andrew Johnson)
    2. What caused his impeachment? (Handling of Reconstruction)
    3. Was he acquitted or convicted? (Acquitted)
    4. Why did one president resign? (Richard Nixon over Watergate)
    5. Why can a president serve only two terms? (Constitutional amendment)
      Should we change that?
    6. What would be the advantages of a six-year term?
