Objectives

Students will create a piece of art using leaves.

Materials

  • Fallen leaves
  • Paints and brushes
  • Crayons
  • Markers
  • Paper
  • Glue
  • Pencils
  • Scrapbook (optional)

Procedure

  1. Paint one side of a leaf (vein side up) and then press it onto paper, imprinting the paper with the leaf design.

  2. Or, create leaf stencil art by laying a leaf down on a piece of paper and painting over the edge of it onto the paper, creating an outline.

  3. Another idea – place paper over the top of a leaf and rub with a crayon. The ridges of the leaf will appear.

  4. Press leaves between two heavy books. Leave them for two weeks. Make a collage or a book mark out of pressed leaves. Glue them onto notepaper to make notecards.

Students use brightly colored autumn leaves to create art pieces, in this arts & crafts project. This lesson plan is a great way to teach students about the changing seasons while encouraging creativity.
