Peter Pan Costume

costumes

Time: 45 minutes
Effort: Easy - no sewing required
Materials:

  • Adult-size green turtleneck
  • Shoelaces or string
  • Cardboard ring (to fit child's head)
  • Stapler
  • Toy knife
  • Feather
  • Instructions: Lay turtleneck shirt flat. Keeping the circle of the collar intact, cut off collar at the seam where collar meets the shirt. Measure a ring of cardboard about 1 inch wide around child's head (like a paper crown). Staple the cut end of the turtleneck collar closed. Turn inside out so staples do not show. Roll cardboard ring into the open end of the collar and secure with staples to make brim of hat. Add the feather. Cut off 3/4 of each sleeve to make the boots. Slide sleeve, wristband end first, over child's shins. Staple the cut end of the sleeves to bottom of child's tennis shoes to form the boots. Cut jagged ends on the remaining sleeves, cut small slit at front of collar. Poke holes in collar and lace up with string or shoe lace. Cut bottom hem of the turtleneck shirt off. Trim shirt in jagged pattern to correct length. Use the bottom hem of the shirt that you just removed to tie on as a belt. Add toy knife in belt.
